From Busy Website to Full Schedule

High traffic, empty schedule: fixing the booking gap

An appliance repair company was ranking well and getting hundreds of visits a day, but only a tiny fraction turned into service requests. We rebuilt the booking path around what customers actually want to know, and bookings from the same traffic roughly doubled.

Results at a glance:

  • Bookings from existing traffic up 110%
  • Quote-to-close rate up 35%
  • Bounce rate down 22%
  • Live in 4 to 6 weeks

The Challenge

Plenty of eyeballs, almost no bookings. The team stayed busy with quotes that never closed and could not understand why such a popular site produced so few jobs. The traffic was clearly there, so the leak had to be somewhere between landing on the page and picking up the phone.

We watched real sessions with heatmaps and recordings, and the pattern was obvious. Visitors were hunting for two things and finding neither:

  • People searched the page for same-day availability and found no answer
  • There was no pricing or diagnostic fee anywhere, so visitors bounced to compare
  • The only call to action was a generic Contact Us
  • Service areas were unclear, so customers were not sure they were even covered
  • Nothing set expectations before the call, so quotes felt like a gamble

The Solution

We rebuilt the conversion path around the two questions every appliance customer asks: can you come today, and what will it cost. Instead of hiding those answers, we put them front and center and made booking a one-tap action from any page. See the conversion work below.

  • Clear service-area messaging so customers know they are covered
  • Expectations set before the call to lift close rates
  • Reviews placed next to every booking prompt
  • Faster, lighter pages so mobile visitors stay

Answer the two questions before they ask

Every appliance repair customer is really asking the same two things: can you come today, and what does it cost. The old site answered neither, so people left to find someone who would. We fixed that head-on.

  • Same-day availability: we made today’s availability impossible to miss, so anxious customers with a broken fridge knew they could be helped now.
  • Upfront pricing: a clear, flat diagnostic fee removed the guesswork and stopped visitors from bouncing off to compare prices elsewhere.
  • Fewer surprises, better calls: when expectations are set on the page, the phone call is a formality, not a negotiation. That is why the close rate went up too.
  • Trust before the booking: reviews and service badges sit right next to the booking button, so the reassurance is there at the exact moment of decision.

A page for each appliance and brand, not one catch-all

A single Services page cannot rank for or speak to every repair a customer needs. We mapped each appliance type and major brand to its own dedicated SEO-ready page, so both customers and Google find exactly the right one.

  • One page per appliance: fridge, washer, dryer, oven and dishwasher each get their own page with relevant content and its own booking prompt.
  • Brand-specific pages: customers searching a specific brand land on a page that speaks to that brand, which converts far better than a generic one.
  • Mapped to avoid cannibalization: each page targets one search intent, so your own pages stop competing for the same keyword.
  • Unique on every page: its own content, its own reviews and its own FAQs, not the same block copied everywhere.
  • Local and relevant: each page reflects the service area it covers, so it is genuinely useful to someone searching nearby.

How We Did It

01. Behavior analysis

Heatmaps, session recordings and CallRail to see exactly where visitors hesitated and dropped off.

02. Messaging rework

Rewrote the site around the two questions customers ask most: can you come today, and what does it cost.

03. Booking flow build

A quick-book widget and same-day booking button added to every page, with a transparent diagnostic fee.

04. Call and lead tracking

CallRail and GA4 wired in so every booking and call could be measured back to its source.

05. Test and optimize

Post-launch testing on messaging and form length, tightening the flow week over week.

The Results

Bookings from the existing traffic roughly doubled within the first six weeks, with no extra ad spend. Just as important, the quote-to-job close rate climbed because customers arrived at the call already knowing availability and price, so there were fewer surprises and fewer drop-offs.

Clarity did more work than persuasion

The strongest changes answered availability, price expectations, and service coverage before a visitor had to ask. That made the booking path easier without promising a job the dispatch team could not deliver.

  • Keep availability messages connected to real dispatch capacity.
  • Show enough pricing context to qualify interest without presenting an inaccurate quote.
  • Measure completed bookings and closed work separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Treat availability as operational data, not permanent marketing copy. Connect the message to the scheduling system where possible, define a cutoff time, and provide a fallback when slots fill. An inaccurate same-day promise may lift clicks briefly but creates cancellations, poor reviews, and wasted calls.
Show the diagnostic fee, what it includes, and the variables that affect the final repair price. Avoid a single repair figure when parts, model, access, and labour can change the scope. The goal is to set a useful expectation and qualify the conversation, not replace an inspection with a misleading quote.
Create a page only when the company truly services that appliance or brand and can add distinct troubleshooting boundaries, parts context, availability, and booking guidance. Repeating one template under dozens of headings is not useful. Retire or consolidate pages when service coverage changes.
Yes, but deduplicate customers who use both. A visitor may start a booking, call for reassurance, and appear as two leads unless identifiers and call notes are reconciled. Report unique qualified requests and completed jobs alongside channel interactions so conversion is not overstated.
Use accepted service requests and completed repairs, segmented by appliance, brand, territory, and source. Form completion shows that the interface worked; it does not show that the business could service the request. Tracking the rejection reason also reveals whether the site is attracting out-of-scope demand.
Escalate when the model is unsupported, the service area is uncertain, there is property damage or safety risk, or the requested time cannot be confirmed. A visible phone option also matters for accessibility and urgent questions. Automation should shorten routine paths without trapping exceptions.

How we evaluated the appliance-repair booking change

Signals behind the booking comparison

The assessment uses booking submissions, lead behaviour, quote-to-close reporting, and bounce rate before and after the new booking path went live. Because the company already had substantial traffic, the analysis focuses on how more of those visitors became workable service requests.

How to read the 110% increase

The booking lift, 35% quote-to-close improvement, and 22% bounce-rate reduction belong to this company's traffic mix, service coverage, and reporting period. Technician availability, supported brands, pricing, seasonality, and call handling can produce a different result for another operator.
