The Challenge
Locksmith searches are urgent and local. Someone locked out at 2am taps the first few results and calls, so if you are not in the top three map results, you may as well not exist. This client was stuck below competitors and losing those emergency calls before the phone ever rang.
We audited the profile and the local footprint end to end, and a handful of problems were keeping them out of the map pack:
- The Google Business Profile was unoptimized and incomplete
- Name, address and phone were inconsistent across the web
- There were very few reviews to build trust or ranking signals
- The site had almost no localized service content
- Profile categories and services did not match high-intent searches
The Solution
We rebuilt the local presence around the searches that actually drive emergency calls. That meant a full Google Business Profile overhaul, a clean citation footprint, a steady stream of reviews, and localized content on the site. Here is what went into it.
- A fully optimized Google Business Profile
- Categories and services aligned to real searches
- Consistent name, address and phone everywhere
- A review generation system running on autopilot
- Localized service content built on the website
- Local schema so search engines read the details right
- Regular GBP posts to keep the profile active
- Ongoing monitoring of rankings and calls
One consistent business identity across the web
Google trusts a business it can verify, and it verifies by matching your name, address and phone across the internet. When those details disagree from one directory to the next, trust drops and so do rankings. We cleaned that up.
- Fixed the core details: we made the name, address and phone identical everywhere they appeared, so Google saw one clear business, not several conflicting ones.
- Cleaned the directories: we tracked down old, wrong and duplicate listings across directories and corrected or removed them one by one.
- Aligned to the profile: every citation was matched to the Google Business Profile so the whole web told the same story about the business.
- Trust that ranks: consistent citations are a proven local ranking factor, and getting them right helped push the profile into the map pack for core terms.
A review engine that never stops asking
Reviews are trust and a ranking signal at the same time, but happy customers rarely leave one unless you ask. We set up a system that asks every time, and paired it with the rest of the local SEO work.
- Ask every customer: after each job the customer got a friendly, frictionless invite to review, so requests went out automatically instead of being forgotten.
- Volume and rating: steady requests lifted both the number of reviews and the average rating, which shoppers and Google both reward.
- Fresh signals: a regular flow of recent reviews tells Google the business is active and trusted right now, not years ago.
- Trust at the moment of need: when someone locked out compares three map results, more reviews and a higher rating win the call.
How We Did It
01. Profile audit
A full audit of the Google Business Profile and local footprint to find every gap holding back map pack rankings.
02. GBP optimization
Rebuilt the profile with the right categories, services and details aligned to high-intent emergency searches.
03. Citation cleanup
Fixed name, address and phone consistency across directories so Google could trust one clear business identity.
04. Review system
Set up an automated review generation flow that invites every customer to leave a review after the job.
05. Content and monitoring
Built localized service content with local schema, then tracked rankings, calls and reviews on an ongoing basis.
The Results
The locksmith moved into the map pack for its core emergency terms, so it started showing up at the exact moment someone locked out was searching. Calls from the Google Business Profile climbed about 130%, and both the review count and average rating rose over the same period.
| Google Business Profile calls | +130% |
| Map pack presence | Core emergency terms |
| Review count and rating | Up |
| Build time | 2 to 4 Months |
